How to Apply Tropical 508 Mastic
Surface Preparation
Before applying, make sure the surface is clean, dry, and free from debris or rust.
If temperatures are cold, it is recommended to store the product at room temperature 24 hours prior to application.
Application Method
Apply Tropical 508 mastic using a trowel, putty knife, or gloved hand.
Spread a uniform coat at a thickness of 1/8” to 1/4”, extending 2”–4” beyond the repair area.
Feather the edges to create a seamless, watertight finish.
For larger cracks or holes, embed glass fabric reinforcement before applying a second coat.
Thus, you ensure better strength and a longer-lasting repair.
Product Coverage and Storage
-
Coverage: Approximately 12 square feet per gallon at 1/8” thickness.
-
Storage: Keep in a cool, dry place. Do not allow the product to freeze.
-
Precautions: Avoid thinning or heating. Always transport the container upright with the lid tightly secured.
Therefore, proper storage helps maintain the product’s performance quality.
Cleanup Instructions
After application, clean tools and equipment with mineral spirits or paint thinner immediately.
It is important to act quickly, as dried material can be difficult to remove.
